Let me explain. Continue reading One Year Later Update: I’m Alive
It’s so surreal knowing that this Spring semester will be my last semester of college. So many emotions run through my mind just thinking about it: excitement, anxiety, relief, anticipation, accomplishment. Looking back, there are so many things I wish I could change, from deciding on a major to deciding where to do my grocery shopping to save a couple of bucks (because $5 can really make a difference in a college student’s life, trust me). But don’t get me wrong I’ve had so many wonderful memories, ones I would not change for the world.
I teamed up with Earnest, a company that provides current students and graduates with financial information and resources to refinance their loans, to write a letter to my younger self. By younger, I mean the Jessie who was a Freshman that did not know what to expect the next four years of her undergraduate career. As a senior in college, I can definitely say that I know a lot more now than I did back in Freshman year. I’ve learned more about my self, who I want to be and where I want to go.
Here it goes:
Hi, guys! Just wanted to write a little blog update about life’s happenings and what is going on. I look a mini-vacation this weekend to with my family to the Starved Rock area here in the (somewhat) Chicago area. I really took the time to reflex and just think about my blog, my jewelry business, school, work, all that good yet stressful stuff.
I really would like to incorporate videos into the blog so that I can be more interactive with you guys and so we can talk face-to-screen. I think it’d be an awesome way for you guys to get to know me more and me you. I think it’d be an awesome way for us to interact more! Life has been so busy for me lately, and with the fourth year of college around the corner (yikes!) so much more will be on my plate. I think having videos and written blog posts will lighten my load a bit. Filming a video will be a lot faster than writing a post. Well, I guess with editing and stuff it could take longer. But, why not give it a shot?
I’m excited. I think this will be a great thing!
I’ve always been such a huge fan of LOFT. They design pieces that cater to a wide range of women. Their ultimate goal for women is to give them styles that will make them look and feel confident wherever they go. Their pieces are casual chic, sophisticated and comfy. I recently did a little bit of “window shopping” on LOFT.com and fell in love with so many pieces. I thought I’d create a collage of those pieces and share them with you!
Have you ever shopped at LOFT? What are your favorite pieces?
This month has been a great one. I turned one year older and had a party with close friends and family. Truly, it was the highlight of the month. Which, brings us to my first favorite:
May is over already?! Well, that’s quite alright with me because that means it’s June (my birthday month) and only 6 more months until Christmas!
This month, I’ve been loving very minimalist makeup, began to re-read the Harry Potter series (again) and made one of childhood dreams come true.
Summer has kicked off on a rather quiet note. I’ve been able to mentally repair from the stressful academic year and just relax. It’s been great. So, here’s a little photo diary of the things I’ve been doing this week.
Okay, so I don’t have a favorite tune this week, per say. I have a favorite album. I have been listening to How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful by Florence + The Machine nonstop. This album is dark, mysterious, and pure perfection. I just cannot get enough of Florence and her mesmerizing, unique voice and bold creativity.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve published anything. This academic semester has been one of the busiest and most demanding of my college career. But I’m, glad to say I survived! Finals are over, my junior year is over, and now is the time to relax. This summer I will be taking a couple of classes to lighten my load during the academic year, as well as working. But I am not letting school and work get in the way of a great summer! There are so many things happening in the city, and my friends and I must take advantage. Here’s what I hope to do during the summer:
